Native American Elder Justice Initiative

NAEJI

Home

The Native American Elder Justice Initiative (NAEJI) was created to address the lack of culturally appropriate information and community education materials on elder abuse in Indian Country. Our focus addresses the different types of elder abuse and provides technical assistance for the development of model tribal codes on elder abuse. NAEJI also develops culturally relevant materials and training modules about elder abuse in Indian Country. NAEJI works on the implementation of programs to address elder abuse and prevention.

Current and upcoming resources on the NAEJI website include:

  • Links to resources including publications, presentations, videos, and other sample materials
  • World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) activities and other events addressing elder abuse in Indian Country.
  • Presentations made at elder abuse conferences
  • Training modules include Elder Abuse, Caregivers, Social Services, Financial Exploitation, Policy, Legal, Healthcare, and Medication Issues.
  • Data information and presentations from the Native Elder Maltreatment Survey (NEMS) and the Tribal Elder Abuse Services (TEAS) Survey.
